Day 2
Last post I was trying to decide if the mission of this website was still going to be promoting family reading. I've confessed that I have not had any success in getting my family to read, so I kind of feel like it's not appropriate for me to have a website promoting family reading.
I've thought about it and figured out that my reality is that I'll always be trying to get my family to read more because I have a passion for reading. Yet, do I necessarily have to try to get other people's families to read more? Hm . . . that's a tough one.
If I were an expert, then I'd say: yes. Help others and pass on your knowledge. But at this point, I have no knowledge to pass on. However, maybe there is a journey that can be about discovering ways to get my family - and maybe your family to start reading and possibly to enjoy reading together!
Right now, I don't have any idea how to promote reading. But, I will do some research and get back to you about it. In the mean time, I think I'll go old school and just share with you the books I have been reading lately. The old book report in front of the class sort of thing.
I love to know what other people are reading. The website Goodreads is a wonderful website to visit when you want to get book suggestions. There are literally hundreds of book summaries and recommendations on all sorts of books. The reviews/summaries are organized by genre and are easy to browse through.
To tell you the truth, maybe I shouldn't give you the link to Goodreads because it kind of makes my website obsolete. Goodreads can give you a thousand recommendations and whereas I can only give you maybe one or two reviews per week - goodness. . . maybe I ought to give up before even trying?
Yikes! That's a whopper of a negative thought! We are after all on a journey. There are many places to visit on this journey . . .(take a deep breath and let it out slowly)
Until next time . . .
